Bountiful Baskets Food Co-Op

So, you know about the Farmers Market in downtown Mesa on Fridays, and now there's one at POOL on Thursdays, and then there's the Backyard Farmer who will bring it right to your door.  Did you need one more option for your produce (aside from the traditional grocery stores)?
Check out Bountiful Baskets.  It's a produce co-op.  Pay for a basket of produce on their website then head down to a local spot (mainly community parks) to grab your produce on Saturday morning.  For $15 you get a full laundry basket load of produce, 1/2 fruits and 1/2 vegetables.  For $25 you get a basket of organic, and mostly local produce.  There are many other offerings as well that may vary weekly like tortillas, bread, or cases of fruits for canning.  If you can fruit, their cases of fruit are a really good deal.

This week's basket pickup is Saturday, August 28th
Deadline to purchase a basket this week is Wednesday at 10pm.

The first time you participate you pay an extra $3 so they can supply baskets at the site.  You do need something to take your produce home in, either a large laundry basket or box.  Some locations have offerings every week and some only every other week. To find out more details, go here.

I've done this a few times.  It's a great deal for fresh produce.  The downside is that you do not get to choose what produce comes in the baskets.  You get what you get, but there is always a great variety.  If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment.

I participate in the Bountiful Basket Co-op and it's awesome. I even did the math one day using the sale ads and found out that I saved more than 50%...definitely worth waking up early on Saturdays. :)
