Out and About : Things to Do in the East Valley this Week

It's a good week for the arts.  Here are your things-to-do around the East Valley this week:

International Museum Day
Turns out May 18th (tomorrow) is International Museum Day.  That means big discounts (or free admission ) to several of Arizona's museums.   Deals include buy-one-get-one to the Museum of Natural History or the Heard Museum, free admission to Pueblo Grande, and more.  If you have a membership to the Children's Museum of Phoenix, the Science Center, or the Phoenix Art Museum you can use your membership to get into any of the others two for free.  Wednesday only, check here for details and a complete list.

Amazing Grace Concert
Hear Colin Raye as special guest to the East Valley Mormon Choral Organization at their patriotic concert, Amazing Grace, on Saturday May 21 at 5:00 & 8:00 at the Mesa Arts Center.  Remaining tickets were reduced so tickets are now starting at $11.  The description from the arts center says this of the performance: A performing force of over 500 singers and instrumentalists, including children, youth, and adults perform America's favorite folk songs, spirituals, and gospel songs.  Tickets can be purchased here or at the Mesa Arts Center box office.  Just don't wait too long, in case they sell out.

Festival for Creative Arts
Support creativity in our public schools this Saturday May 21st from 10am - 2pm.  The Festival For Creative Arts will be held in the parking lot of the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre.  There will be food, music, games, prizes, and shows like fire-eating, juggling, and more.  Proceeds benefit Mesa Public Schools creative and performing arts fund.  Info from here.

Downtown Chandler Artwalk
Every third Friday from 6pm to 10pm in downtown Chandler.  Here's their description: "The Art Walk provides a fun family atmosphere where you can browse the many different types of art available from our talented artists.
It's a great opportunity to visit all of the unique establishments in downtown Chandler."  They also feature live music.  Get more info here.

Also, don't forget about the Schnepf Farms Peach Festival that continues through this weekend.

And get outside while you still can--gotta love this weather!
