Last night I enjoyed a nice meal out with my sisters, mom, and grandma for Mother's Day, I helped my sister-in-law with her 8th grade vice president campaign and now we are up and at em this morning heading out to the Boyce Thompson Arboretum for free admission day. Then tonight we are making our way downtown for a fun mommy daughter date at Motorcycles on Main. It's a great day to live in Mesa!
For our date, we plan to grab a treat at Urban Picnic and then watch the fireworks at 8:30 PM. Yes, fireworks! We received an e-mail from the city stating (I'm giving it to you word for word so you have all the details that I have), "A brief testing of fireworks will be conducted Friday, May 6 at 8:30 p.m. in preparation for The Southwest Ambulance Arizona Celebration of Freedom. Mesa Fire will be on site to oversee the testing by Fireworks Productions of Arizona. The fireworks testing will take place during Motorcycles on Main."
And if you haven't heard about Urban Picnic, a new downtown Mesa restaurant, I think it's time you checked it out. Tonight will be my first time getting to eat there, but our designer (my talented sister-in-law) Angela went a week ago and wrote a beautiful review. So I hope you enjoy her words:
Yesterday we met up for lunch at Urban Picnic, a new little restaurant on Main Street in downtown Mesa. Beth told me about it (thank you!), and I knew I needed to go. Healthy organic food, white and wood interior, concrete floors, thoughtful design details... it's my kind of place. And the food was amazing! I had the grilled veggie and goat cheese sandwich with a baby green salad. This is exactly the type of place Mesa needs around. We will definitely be back, over and over. Next time I think we'll try breakfast.
After lunch I walked over to the Good Store Thrift, where I found a darling vintage dress and some mid-century candle holders. In case you couldn't tell, I'm so happy about our new neighborhood. We haven't even moved in to our house yet, but Clint and I are already on a quest to convince all our friends to join us downtown.
Thanks Angela
