Symphony, Swimming, and Food Trailers

Now for getting out and about this week in Mesa (and Phoenix) look at what this week has to offer:

- This weekend the Phoenix Symphony is playing with Elvis!  Alright, maybe it's not him but rather one of the best tribute artists in the business.  You'll love all the show stoppers they pull out with this one as The King performs live with the symphony.  Tickets start at $18.  The show runs this Friday the 29th and Saturday the 30th.  Go here for details and to purchase tickets.

- Mesa is hosting the U.S. Masters Swimming this week, Thursday, April 28th - Sunday, May 1st.  Come watch at the Kino Jr. High Aquatics Center,  848 North Horne.  Currently there are 1,800 participants registered, ranging in ages 18-96!  These 4 days of events are free for the public to come and watch.  Go here for a schedule.

- I've been hearing a lot about these food trailers that come every Friday from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM in downtown Phoenix (Central and McKinley) for none other than Food Truck Friday.  So when family was in town, we finally got out there.  It was a fun experience and one that you should probably check out at least once in order to get your own opinion of it.  I did find that it was hard to find seating as we had such a large crowd of family with us and I wouldn't consider the food I ate to be anything I couldn't live without (although the hot dog trailer looked quite crowded - maybe next time).   We enjoyed a variety of food choices finished off with creme brulee, ice-cream and live music.  But, for me, it was worth it for the company I had.

Go here to check out the Food Truck Friday blog.

- Also, mark your calendars for next Monday and Tuesday.  If you plan to dine out on either of those days, check out these Mesa restaurants that will be donating a portion of their profit to Mesa's United Way.

The hot dog truck is GOOD. Seriously. Om nom nom. You definitely have to wait for awhile, though. I don't think I would want to take my kiddos without backup. :)
