Out and About in the East Valley This Week


Wingstock
Sat., April 9, 2011 from 11am to 5pm at the Mesa Amphitheatre
Restaurants from around the Valley will be showing off their best wing recipes and competing for the title "Wingstock King of Wings." Local bands will perform and contests will be held throughout the day.  There will also be inflatables for kids and kid-friendly food items for purchase.  Children 10 and under are free with a paying adult.
Tickets $8 in advance including 4 wing coupons or $20 in advance, including 20 wing coupons.  They are $10 the day of event, including 4 wing coupons and additional wing coupons can be purchased at the event.

2nd Friday
Friday, April 8th from 6pm to 10pm on Main in downtown Mesa.
This month's event is "Sci-Fi Friday" and includes live music, a sci-fi costume show, Steampunk Street II, art booths and more.  Check out the info here.

Free Outdoor Concerts at Tempe Marketplace
Every Friday and Saturday in April
Enjoy listening to a free outdoor concert featuring local musicians.
Concerts start at 7pm.  There are generally two concerts going on simultaneously at different locations at Tempe Marketplace, 2000 E. Rio Salado Pkwy in Tempe.  Go here for concert listings.

  • The Scottsdale Culinary Festival is this week.  Numerous events are included, including the Great Arizona Picnic, a family-friendly event with music, food sampling, and even a family zone.
  • The Phoenix Film Festival continues this week.
  • Don't forget the Mesa Farmers Market every Friday from 9am to 12pm at 263 N. Center St. 
  • And somehow I didn't know, but there is another farmers market in Mesa--Saturdays on Main Street and MacDonald from 9:30 to 2pm.
