I married a man who likes to explore. And Arizona is an awesome state to explore in. Just recently my husband, Ryan, hiked up to the Pueblo Canyon Ruins in the Sierra Ancha Mountains. This site was built around 1280 and some of the two story structures still have the floors in tact! They have been preserved mostly because they are not easily accessible. To get to the ruins near Globe/Roosevelt Lake you must take a road which is recommended 4 wheel drive and then do a strenuous 7 mile (round trip) hike. But, check out the reward of such effort - ruins, canyons, and a waterfall with amazing history. We love Arizona.
Happy Exploring!
