Fun and Family: Things to Do During Spring Break

It's spring break...What to do with the kids???  Here are a few ideas:


Get out in nature and take the kids to one of the events at Usery Park  like the desert scavenger hunt, outdoor animal games, or others.


Check out one of the MANY free activities for kids this week at Ikea in Tempe.

The Flow Rider at Rhodes Pool is open during spring break. 

Visit a new park in Mesa that you've never been to.


Or check out one of these events around town. 

Cubs Spring Training
The Chicago Cubs play the Colorado Rockies at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa on Tuesday and the Cincinnati Reds on Friday.  Prices are $8 - $28.  Go here for more information, or here to buy tickets (look on the right side where it says Mesa, Arizona).


Mesa Grande Ruins Open House
Saturday, March 19 from 8 am to 11am
The free event is the only day of the year this archaeological treasure is open to the public.  Tour this large prehistoric Hohokam temple mound, view prehistoric technology demonstrations and participate in ancient games at the archaeological site at the northwest corner of West 10th Street and Date/Brown in Mesa.  A free pancake breakfast, sponsored by the Mesa Grande Community Alliance, will be served from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.  Go here for information.


Phoenix Sister Cities World Fest
March 18th-20th
Heritage & Science Park at 115 N. 6th St in Phoenix.
"PhoenixWorldFEST is a FREE event celebrating the diverse cultures of Phoenix Sister Cities. Visitors can experience sights, sounds, and tastes from around the globe, including the music, arts, and foods of nine different countries. Some highlights include the World of Beers, KidzWorld, a Passport Tour of the Sister Cities Village, Live entertainment on two stages: WorldSTAGE and FriendshipSTAGE, the Sister Cities Parade, and more!" Luke Air Force Base Open House and Air Show
Show admission is free and  concessions will be available to purchase food and drinks. Cooler stations with free water will be located throughout the show area.  Paid seating available and you should expect to pay for parking.  Go here for more information.
