Cheap Date Ideas for This Week

Here's a few dirt cheap date ideas for you for this week.  Why don't you go...

Check out the stars

The Gilbert Rotary Centennial Observatory is open to the public on Friday and Saturday nights, weather permitting. Summertime hours will be approximately 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM.  Attendance is free, however a voluntary donation of $3.00 per person is suggested. For a schedule go here and for a map, here.

Get out to a Ball Game...
...for free.
For the next couple of weeks (nearly every day through August 29th) you can still catch some rookie league baseball.  In Mesa, the Mesa Cubs (the Chicago Cubs rookie team) plays at Hohokam stadium on Thursday, August 18th and also on the 22nd, 23rd, 26th, and the 29th.  (By the way if you go to Hohoham you have to go through the back, not the main entrance.)  There are plenty of other games to enjoy as well, you just have to drive a little farther.

This Friday, August 20th, 7:00pm you've got two choices:

Dodgers vs A's
Papago Park Baseball Complex, 1802 N. 64th Street in Phoenix

Angels vs Indians
Angels Minor League Complex, 2225 W. Westcourt Way in Tempe

My husband and I saw a game at the Papago Park complex last weekend.  There were only a few people there and seating was not so comfortable.  Next time I'd bring our own chairs.  Other complexes are configured differently and might have better seating (like Hohokam in Mesa) but I don't know for sure.

Go here for more information, including addresses of the other baseball complexes around the valley, and go here for the full schedule.

Listen to Dave Ramsey

This event at Central Christian Church is open to the public.  I have heard a little about Dave Ramsey and have been intrigued with what I've heard about his philosophy on debt.  He has written several books and hosts a radio show about finances on KTAR.  I think this might be what we're doing for date night this week.  From Central Christian's website:

Central is excited to have Dave Ramsey in person August 21/22 in Mesa & Gilbert.  With campuses in Mesa and Gilbert, Central presents America's trusted source for financial straight-talk, Dave Ramsey, in person! Dave will be speaking on both campuses on August 21 and 22 to deliver a message that will inspire you to win with money. This event is open to the public, so come, and bring a friend to one of nine services.
He is speaking several times on Saturday and Sunday at two different locations--one in Mesa, one in Gilbert.  Go here to find times if you are interested in going.

Hope you're doing something fun this week!
