Dia de los Muertos

Dia de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday to honor those that have passed on. To celebrate the holiday, there is a FREE festival in downtown Mesa this weekend.
Mesa Arts Center
1 E. Main St. Mesa, 85211

November 1st, 2008 - November 2nd, 2008
Saturday: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Sunday: 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM

"This celebration features an artist Mercado showcasing an assortment of traditional and contemporary merchandise, jewelry, and arts and crafts from several local artisans. Live artist demonstrations, artist workshops, altar contests, hands- on educational activities, and live traditional music and dance will also be part of the festivities. Participate in the community altar! A variety of food and beverages from featured local restaurants will be available. Don't miss out on this one-of-a-kind cultural festival!"

Another fun way to celebrate the holiday is by going to see Rosita's Day of the Dead at the Mesa Arts Center Piper Repertory Theater. "Ruby Nelda Perez performs her humorous one-woman show that finds Rosita cooking late into the night for El Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), dishing out stories about the living, the dead and those who fall somewhere in the middle."

Ticket prices for Rosita's Day of the Dead show are $15-$27.

Showtimes are: Saturday, November 1st - 7:30 PM and Sunday, November 2nd - 5:30 PM
