Summer Fun at Mesa Libraries

With only one month left of summer vacation, the Mesa Public Library offers educational and entertaining programs that will keep your kids cool.

Ronald McDonald visits the Mesa Library again in July. Join in the fun as Ronald McDonald shows off his magic tricks and love of reading on Wednesday, July 14 at the Dobson Ranch Library from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Children and adults of all ages are welcome to attend.

Hang Ten! It’s a surf party at the Library. Bring a bag lunch and get cozy with the animated feature, “Surf’s Up” on Tuesday, July 6 at the Main Library, Wednesday, July 7 at the Dobson Ranch Library, and Thursday, July 8 at the Red Mountain Library. Program begins at 11:30 a.m. till 1 p.m. at all three locations.

Enter the world of flight and learn how to make ordinary household items fly. “Flight-tastic Fun” is for children 8 and older and will be held on Tuesday, July 13 at the Main Library, Wednesday, July 14 at the Dobson Ranch Library, and Thursday, July 15 at the Red Mountain Library. Program starts at 1:30 p.m. at all three locations.

Arizona Reptiles will be slithering its way back to the Main Library on Saturday, July 17 from noon to 1 p.m. Meet fascinating reptiles found in the Arizona desert, presented by the Arizona Herpetological Association.

Bring your child down for “Reading Games,” where children ages nine and older can bring three of their favorite books and describe the plot, while trying to beat the clock. “Reading Games” will start on Tuesday, July 20 at the Main Library, Wednesday, July 21 at the Dobson Ranch Library, and Thursday, July 22 at the Red Mountain Library. Program time begins at 1:30 p.m. at all three branches.

“Water You Making?” Children ages six to 12 can create fun water-themed crafts on Tuesday, July 27 at the Main Library, Wednesday July 28 at the Dobson Ranch Library and Thursday July 29 at the Red Mountain Library. Program begins at 1:30 p.m. at all three locations.

All events and programs are free. The Main Library is located at 64 E. First Street. Dobson Ranch Library is located at 2425 S. Dobson Road. The Red Mountain Library is located at 635 N. Power Road.
