We just got word today of an opportunity for youth to volunteer with the city of Mesa this summer. I love love love this idea. Word is, the spots for volunteering are going fast, so if your teenager (or if you are a teenager yourself) want to get involved, this one is for you.
"The Mayor’s Youth Summer of Service is a series of service-learning projects during June and July especially designed for teens ages 14-17. Some of the service projects include assembling medical packets for doctors overseas, stocking shelves at the food bank, helping in an adult day care center, educating the public about recycling, assisting in an animal shelter and much more. For a full listing of projects and registration information go here."
And if you aren't a teenager, don't worry, there are other opportunities to serve. You can help make Mesa a better place by checking out opportunities to serve here.
This also got me thinking - If we hosted an I Heart Mesa family day (or morning) of volunteering, would any of you show up? It would be something families with small children (cause that is the boat I am in) would be able to do. What do you think?
