It's Astronomy night again. I'm thinking that you can usually plan on the first Friday of the month for these events.
MCC Astronomy Night
April 2nd, 2010
6:00 PM - 10:00 PM
MCC Southern/Dobson Campus
Physical Science Building #15 (just west of Dobson Rd., two traffic lights south of Southern Ave.)
Free parking in lot just south of Physical Science Building
"The show for April is Stars of the Pharaohs. Learn how the astronomy and religion of ancient Egypt were connected. The creation myth, the pharaoh burial rites, and their connection with the sky are described. Stunning computer recreations of Egyptian temples and pyramids are portrayed and their art is explained as it relates to the night sky.
Planetarium shows begin at 6:00 PM and repeat every half hour. The last show begins at 9:30 PM and ends at 10:00 PM. FREE show tickets are handed out at the door on a first-come, first-served basis. Wait times are usually no more than 30 minutes. If a staff member does not approach you about tickets during the event, please ask for them!
No reservations are required. However, if you plan to bring a group of 20 or more, please contact Dr. Kevin Healy with the showing you plan to attend so we can hold tickets for your group.
During Astronomy Nights, we also offer telescope viewing of the Moon, planets, and other celestial sights. Unlike the planetarium shows, telescope viewing will only occur if the weather permits."
